Need some help with cutting board

Postby jakev383 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 1:29 am

I need some gelp cutting PCBs and hope you could could provide some tips. I'm using a Sherline that's been converted to CNC. I've been using this mill for a couple years and it works great.
Anyway, I drew up a PCB in Eagle and used the defaults for the program. I set the PCB-Gcode program up using the settings suggested by the web site - it didn't come out well. It would cut either side of a trace, and the trace would disappear. I tried playing with some of the settings in Eagle (enlarging the isolation from 8mil to 14mil, tried making the traces larger, etc.) Anyway, here's a pic of what it produced. As you can see, once it cuts either side of the trace, the trace is gone. I tried using a .040 end mill, and also tried a V-bit that I ground from a broken end mill (60 degree).
Anyway, here's a pic of what I'm ending with. Can you offer some suggestions on what I can change to get a decent looking board?
Thanks,

Sorry I just caught your post. You will need to use a V bit, and you need to take shallower cuts. Normally with a good vbit you can do a .004mil depth, but it needs to be a flat surface.
Thanks,
